CIRENCESTER Town's hopes of reaching the Southern League Division One Central play-offs took a hit on Saturday as Jenson Wright's stoppage-time winner proved decisive for high-flying Didcot Town.
The Centurions were heading toward another crucial away point in their bid to reach the post-season play-offs but could not keep third-placed Didcot out with seconds remaining.
Joshua Hedges' cross from the by-line was headed into the top corner by Wright to spark jubilant scenes amongst the home fans.
But it was a devastating blow for Ciren, who dominated possession for large spells, and now they have dropped to eighth in the table, five points off the play-off spots.
They still have a game in hand on fifth-placed ware with five games left in the 2022/23 season. But they need victories now if they are to make a late surge, with Kidlington and Biggleswade still also in the mix for the final spot.
