JAKE Lee scored in stoppage time to give Cirencester Town all three points in their Southern League Division 1 Central clash at Aylesbury United.
The Centurions are up into fifth in the table thanks to Lee's heriocs, who prodded home from close range to spark wild celebrations.
It looked as if the visitors were going to come away from their long journey towards the capital with just a point against a side flirting with the relegation zone.
But Lee's late goal rescued the three points and meant Cirencester won for a fifth consecutive game in the league.
The match was a scrappy affair as neither side kept the ball for long on a soft, sticky surface, due to the recent heavy rain and frost.
An early chance for the home side was smothered by keeper Alex Harris before Levi Irving’s block almost flew into the net.
Before the interval, Zac Guinan was denied by a goal-line block and he came close with a couple of other efforts whilst the home side were restricted to very little.
The second half was punctuated with free kicks and yellow cards, so there was little flow to the game.
Cirencester did have the ball in the net in the net but it was disallowed for offside and Aylesbury had a penalty appeal rejected before Jay Simpson fired over the top.
The introduction of Tom McElroy livened proceedings up for the home side as he fired wide of the left post and was denied in a one-on-one with Harris.
But the result was decided deep into stoppage time when Jake Lee reacted quickest from a free-kick to drive the ball into the net.
