Swindon Town boss Ian Holloway was frustrated that his side did not capitalise on their momentum to make chances count against Morecambe.
The Shrimps put their basement boys status behind them and left the Nigel Eady County Ground with all three points on the weekend, thanks to goals from Jamie Stott, Ben Tollitt and former Town man, Hallam Hope.
The Robins slumped to joint-bottom as the task for the former Crystal Palace boss to drag the side away from the relegation places is becoming harder.
He said: “At the end of the day, I get judged by the result, just lost to the bottom of the league at home.
“It feels awful, when we had whatever advantage and the momentum advantage, we still couldn’t see them off which is unbelievably annoying.”
Despite a break from league action on the weekend, a win against in-form Accrington Stanley would create a strong foundation to turn around the poor results.
Holloway believes it has been a struggle to change the form after no wins in the last three league games but remains motivated.
“It’s a tough old day”, he said after the defeat on Saturday.
“It’s bitterly disappointing but you’ll see me on Monday. We’ll be going again, we gotta do better than that and there’ll be lots of things that I’ll be able to take from watching the video [the game].
“To make sure they understand shoulders, body shape, where is he, can you see him, loads of different things.
“But wow, I didn’t expect that. I thought we prepared really well.
“What I saw was quite a shock, because oh my god, we’re two down.
“Life is about momentum and you got to get it going, and it’s been really difficult to actually dig them out of this hole.”
The manager stated that he wants to feel the emotion of victories come back to him as the form in recent weeks has let that disappear.
He said: “I’m not too happy anyway because I wanted to have an easier time.
“I wanted that feeling, that feel good feeling that we had a couple of weeks ago after winning and coming back again.
“It’s bitterly disappointing because we regained the tug of war and now they’ve gone and done the worst thing we were all fearful of today.
“They’re level with us. All it’s done is make it harder.”
