MORETON Rangers remain in relegation trouble in the Hellenic League Division One after suffering a 3-1 home defeat to Cheltenham Saracens.
Goals from Oakley James, Jamie Goodwin and Zack Hodges handed Cheltenham the three points, with Harry Walters providing the only goal for the home side.
The defeat was Moreton's fifth in a row in the league and comes a week after being humbled 5-0 by Newent Town, who are a place below them in the table. Newent also have five games in hand, which is very likely going to put Rangers back in the drop zone.
This recent losing run has come on the back of a five-game stretch in which Moreton took eight points from a possible 12, including three wins, a draw and just a single defeat to league leaders Hartpury University.
But the last stretch of matches has seen them concede 23 goals, including eight in the 8-1 defeat to Calne Town at the start of January. They have only scored twice in that period and are now right back in the mix for relegation.
The bottom five teams in the league - from last-placed Long Crendon to Kidlington Reserves in 15th - are separated by just five points, so all is not lost for Rangers, but they will need to put an end to this losing streak quickly if they are to survive.
