MALMESBURY Victoria produced a statement victory in the Hellenic League Division One as they beat second-placed Clanfield 85 3-0 to go two points clear at the top of the table.
Kyle Witt scored twice and George Evatt got the other as The Vics enhanced their title credentials.
After 21 games in the 2023/24 campaign, Malmesbury have 51 points and lead Clanfield by two, but more crucially, also have a game in hand.
It was a fourth win on the bounce for the home side on Saturday, who now have another huge game to come on Tuesday against title rivals Hartpury University.
Hartpury have three games in hand over Malmesbury and are only four points behind, so it could prove to be a massive game in the context of the championship.
And Hartpury are in red-hot form. They have won a staggering 10 games in a row in the division, but only just got past Cheltenham Saracens on Saturday, scraping a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to Luke Salters' 81st-minute winner.
After Tuesday's clash with Hartpury, The Vics go to Saracens on Saturday before a Boxing Day game with Chipping Sodbury Town at home to conclude 2023.
