CIRENCESTER College Girls Football Academy last week celebrated winning the league title after an incredible season.
A 3-0 win over WBA Foundation Streetly secured their championship win, their 12th win of the season.
"I am over the moon for the players, they have been nothing short of excellent all season," said Head coach Kerry Walklett.
"I don’t think anyone at the start of the season would have us down to win the league. I am really proud of the girls, not only for getting what they deserve but for believing in themselves and each other to do it."
One of the players, Isla, in Year 1, added: "I was really excited to win the league and now hopefully we can keep progressing next year and continue challenging ourselves."
"Throughout my time at College the Football Academy has developed a lot, Kerry’s coaching has been amazing and hopefully more people will be inspired to join the Football Academy in the future," said Lucy, one of the players in Year 2.
"Even if its just for one session, I think people should go for it as you will fit in really quickly and everyone is so nice."
Their end-of-season record read played 16, won 12, drawn 3 and lost just one. They scored 55 goals in the process, the highest in the league, and conceded just 18, which was the lowest in the league.
Those two facts alone show that they were the best team in the league and therefore worthy winners of the AOC Sport Midlands Women's Football League 1 trophy.
Cirencester finished 15 points clear of second-placed Tresham College.
