Swindon Town's chairman Rob Angus has defended the players' decision to have their Christmas party at Winter Wonderland in London following the cancellation of yesterday's Walsall game.
The Robins squad has surpassed all expectations this season given the tumultuous pre-season Swindon had with the ownership battle, and they made the decision to head to the capital for their festive work do last week.
Harry McKirdy posted a picture of some of the squad in fancy dress at London's Hyde Park onto his social media page.
During a recent Q&A during an On The Sofa With Vic Morgan Facebook Live Rob Angus was asked if it was a good idea for the players to go in light of the news of an outbreak in the squad.
He responded by saying: "We didn’t know about the outbreak in the squad until Monday morning so when the players went out for their Christmas party they didn't know we had an outbreak in the camp.
"You know they’ve had a busy year, they deserved to go out and celebrate and I think it’s good team bonding as well.
"They didn’t know that we had an outbreak in the camp, that was only identified on Monday morning when one of the coaching staff came down so I don’t think the party had any bearing on the outbreak that we’ve had.
"They went to Winter Wonderland which is outside and they had a big area with room and air, Obviously hindsight is a wonderful thing but I don’t believe it was a factor in the case of this outbreak."
