Cirencester Town 2 – 1 Yate Town
GOALS from new signing Toumani Sidibe and Jonny Dennis saw Charlie Griffin's Cirencester Town progress into the third round of the League Cup, writes Dave Pyzer.
Sidibe opened the scoring with an emphatic strike from 30 yards inside the opening five minutes.
Cirencester were in the driving seat and Yate's Sam Boulton produced two excellent blocks in as many minutes to prevent Jay Malshanskyj increasing the lead.
However, Yate netted parity through Ollie Mehew. The rest of the half was end-to-end and on the stroke of half-time Sidibe saw his strike cleared off the line.
Within five minutes of the interval Cirencester showed their intent as a fierce strike Dennis strike tested keeper Adam Forster.
As the game entered the final 10 minutes the breakthrough was made when a flowing move down the right flank released Tommy Anderson and his chip to the back post was converted by Dennis.
Cirencester travel to Larkhall on Saturday, 3pm.
