SWINDON dropped to fourth in the Premiership following a 53-37 loss at Wolverhampton, writes Phil Rice.

The side’s chances of qualifying for the playoff’s look remote.

The Robins were only able to record one heat advantage as they went down 53-37 in the West Midlands.

Things got off to the worst possible start for the Blunsdon outfit, conceding back-to-back 5-1s in the opening two races.

And by the mid-point of the meeting, the hosts had extended their lead to 16 points.

Captain Nick Morris and former Wolves man Tobiasz Musielak were the only Robins riders to take the chequered flag for the visitors and team manager Alun Rossiter admits his side seem to be running out of steam at the wrong stage of the season.

“We just weren’t good enough it’s as simple as that,” Rossiter said.

Swindon finish their league campaign on Bank Holiday Monday when Poole visit, but by then with other sides having meetings in hand, it could be that the side’s chances of a top four place have all but disappeared.
