Purton Reserves 4 Highworth Town Res 2
PURTON Reserves won their last game of the season at the Red House on Monday evening when running out 4-2 winners over near-neighbours Highworth Town Reserves, writes Alan Eastwood.
Sadly, this was the last game in charge for manager Lee Ashby who is moving on to run the first team at Coleshill in the North Berks League.
Ashby's side were worthy winners going ahead after eight minutes when the Highworth keeper failed to hold a Jake Bailey shot and Connor Dettmar pounced to score.
A mistake by the Purton keeper let the visitors in for a headed leveller.
A great 25-yard free kick by Bailey then put Purton 2-1 up after 21 minutes and Dettmar added a third on three minutes before the interval.
The second half saw several chances missed by Purton but they did make it 4-1 after 55 minutes with Dettmar completing his hat-trick.
Highworth pulled a goal back after 65 minutes but never looked like adding to their total. In fact, Purton could have won by a much larger margin.
PURTON will be holding their Annual Presentation Night at the Red House Club on Friday, May 6 commencing at 8pm and have scheduled their AGM at the Red House Club on Saturday, June 4 at 12.30pm.
