BEN PAULING has won the 2015/16 Gloucestershire Trainers' Championship sponsored by the WI Racing Club.
Pauling's stable, based just outside Bourton-on-the-Water, wins a splendid hamper and £300 worth of vouchers to purchase something for his yard.
The trainer has saddled 25 winners during timespan of the competition – October 1, 2015 to April 14, 2016. This is his second success in the championship, having captured it in his rookie season in 2013/14.
The trainer, whose stable star is Barters Hill, said: "It is nice to have another season rewarded in this way. It has been a good year for us and it is great for the whole yard to win this award.
"It's a long season and the yard's achievements are down to the staff and the support of the owners. This is a tremendous way to celebrate the end of another good season.
"Last time I won the award, I used the vouchers to buy a strimmer! I haven't decided where the money will go this year but there is sure to be something we need around the yard."
Each of the jump trainers within Gloucestershire was allocated a 'handicap' rating based on the number of horses in training and the number of runners and winners in recent seasons.
Points were accrued for winners trained around Britain from October 1, 2015 to April 14, 2016, with double points awarded for a Cheltenham victor or any winner returned at 25-1 or more.
The WI Racing Club regularly attends racing at Cheltenham.
