MORE than 20 schools and 500 children competed in the inter-schools cross country race at Westonbirt School on Wednesday.
The race took place through the school’s beautiful parkland as pupils from Year 3 to Year 10 competed at a variety of cross country distances.
There were five age group victories for the host school: Jasmine Butterfield (U8 girls); Philip Monaghan (U10 boys); Madeleine Winston-Davis (Year 7 girls); Kira Wait (Year 9 girls) and Lucinda Clements (Year 10 girls).
Westonbirt Prep headmaster Neil Shaw said: “We were thrilled to host another amazing cross country event this year.
"In glorious sunshine the runners all participated enthusiastically and with great sporting spirit.
The schools taking part were: Ann Edwards Primary School, Hatherop Castle, Heywood Prep, Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School, Kemble Primary School, King Edwards School Bath, Kingswood Prep School, Leighterton Primary School, Luckington School, Marshfield Primary School, Monkton Combe Prep, Red Maids in Bristol, Royal High School Bath, Silverhill School, Sherston Primary School, St Margaret’s Prep, The Manor, The Paragon School, Tockington Manor, Trinity Primary and Westonbirt Schools.
RESULTS: U8 boys: 1, Charlie Haines (Trinity); 2, Fin Ward (Leighterton); 3, Luke Sertin (Monkton).
U8 girls: 1, Jasmine Butterfield (Westonbirt Prep); 2, Isla Mills (Royal High School); 3, Jemima Pearce (Trinity).
U9 boys: 1, Freddie Allmon (Luckington); 2, Tom Dangerfield (Westonbirt Prep); 3, Alistair Stewart (St Margaret’s).
U9 girls: 1, Laura Chance (Red Maids); 2, Sophie Jones (Royal High School); 3, Emily Betts (The Manor).
U10 boys: 1, Philip Monaghan (Westonbirt Prep); 2, William Shardlow (Kingswood); 3, Logan Fitzpatrick (Tockington).
U10 girls: 1, Harriet Hillman (St Margaret's); 2, Fern Deshan (Monkton); 3, Erin Ferguson (The Manor).
U11 boys: 1, Will Connors (Trinity); 2, Jack Webb (Monkton); 3, Freddie Billing (Monkton).
U11 girls: 1, Ciara Newcastle (KES); 2, Sophie Izon (Ann Edwards); 3, Maisy Laddle (Sherston).
