TWO local girls from South Marston have recently been selected to join an England U16 rugby development programme.
Kira Jones and Summer Slade, who both play for Supermarine RFC, have been highlighted as potential England stars of the future and will be included in the programme for the upcoming season.
"We are really pleased to announce that two of our girls have been selected to join the U16 England Rugby Developing Player Programme (ERDPP) in Gloucestershire which is a huge achievement for both themselves and our club," said Christian Slade, who helps run the girls section at Supermarine.
"We’re all massively proud (not only because one of them is my daughter!)"
The club are currently on the search for more girls and ladies to join the club and they are hosting an 'Inner Warrior' day on Saturday, October 14 where they have asked for any girls or ladies to come along and try out for the club, whether a seasoned pro or a first-time player.
There will also be food provided on the day, as well as a chance for any new players to meet the rest of the girls and ladies' set-up.
