LOCAL Cirencester indie band The Flex have been making a big noise thanks to the release of their first single.
The Flex, formed in 2009, released their first single Our Time Is Now earlier this month, produced by Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Lost Prophets, Super Furry Animals, Catatonia) and featuring Cardiff’s Vulcan String Quartet.
Although the song was recorded during the summer of 2011, the band decided to delay the release to coincide with the 2012 Olympics with the aim of making the song the unofficial anthem for Team GB.
Band members, Giles Refoy (lead vocals), Tom Flatman (lead guitar, vocals), Stu McDonald (rhythm guitar, vocals), Chris Mellor (bass guitar) and Sam Gerard (drums) have been tirelessly performing this summer at gigs across the county and beyond.
Chris said: “It has been absolutely fantastic. We received such a great reaction everywhere we went. It has been non-stop. The single is now available ion Amazon and iTunes and we find out in August how well it has done. It is a really exciting time.”
The forward-thinking band are currently preparing to return to the studio to record a five-track ep called Yesterday’s Tomorrow, which will be released on their own label Dress to Kill Media.
