COMEDIAN Julian Clary is heading back to school in Cricklade this weekend.
Julian, who has family ties in Swindon, will be formally opening Meadowpark School on September 11 which has transformed from a nursery to a full primary school.
After planting a tree in the school forest, the star will cut the red ribbon to The Old School House, in the High Street.
The building was last used as a school 50 years ago but has been taken on by Meadowpark School to create more classrooms.
The Victorian Grade II listed building has been fully renovated and now boasts an IT lab, extensive outdoor play areas and children's library.
The nursery school will stay in its current location on Calcutt Street.
Headteacher Rajvinder Kular said: “We have a strong tradition of drama, art and music at Meadowpark and we are delighted that Julian has offered to open our school.
“Meadowpark prides itself on bring out the best in children. We hope that The Old School House will inspire children to reach their full potential.”
As part of the opening, members of the public can tour the building and meet staff, while children can test out the new adventure playground and bouncy castle.
Entry to the event, which starts at 11am, is by ticket only available on 01793 752600.
Meadowpark opened in 1994 with just five teachers and 30 children but has since expanded to more than 200 children and 30 members of staff.
