ANDY Mutlow has won the championship at Cirencester Golf Club for the second year running.
In this year's event, held on June 1, he played two exceptional rounds of golf to win comfortably.
His morning round of 70 was followed in the afternoon by a sub-par score of 69, giving a total score of 139 shots.
Head greenkeeper David Bougen and his team had prepared the course in magnificent condition with the greens proving smooth and very fast.
And taking a well deserved runners-up spot was Gareth Bennett who, although six shots back, returned consistent scores of 72 and 73 for a total of 145.
Although he was disappointed with a 79 in the morning, Ian Penfold had an outstanding round of 70 after lunch for a total of 149 and third position.
Chasing him all the way was Sam Tanner (73+76) 149 who had to settle for fourth while Darren Robinson was fifth with (76+74) 150.
Best nett score on the day was Adam Collins with a score of 136.
Their first home match of the season, played on May 31, brought an overwhelming win for Cirencester A as they crushed Cotswold Edge 6-0.
Results (Cirencester names first): Pete Stone/Hamish Mason won 3 & 2, Adam Collins/Darren Robinson won 2 & 1, Andy Mutlow/Tony Henshaw on 5 & 3, Mark Priest/Richard Louisson won 4 & 2, Tom Stone/Ian Mercer won 5 & 4, Alex Hobson/Duncan Barnes won 4 & 3.
In was excellent start to the NGFL season for the A Team, following their point away at Painswick, to beat Cotswold Edge a team relegated from the first division last year.
If the team can bring something from the next two matches - away at Cleeve Cloud and Tewkesbury Park respectively- then another promotion season is a distinct possibility.
