CIRENCESTER Parish Church is the venue for a special Gala Concert by the world famous choir, The Tallis Scholars, directed by internationally known conductor Peter Phillips.
The concert takes place on Saturday, June 21 at 7.30pm and the programme of early music includes works by Palestrina, Lassus and a performance of the famous Misereri by Allegri.
"We are extremely delighted to have secured the services of the Tallis Scholars. They are making only four appearances in the UK this year and we are thrilled that they chose Cirencester for one of these.
"The parish church is a superb place for music making and the beautiful surroundings lend themselves to the programme of vocal music particularly," said Neil Shepherd, director of music at the Parish Church.
The concert takes place on the same weekend as the Parish Church Festival of Flowers and Church Tower Open Day.
Pam Ayres opens the Festival on Friday, June 20 at 7.30pm and the event closes with choral evensong at 4.30pm on Sunday when the guest preacher will be BBC 2's Roger Royle.
The Church Tower is open from 10am-4pm on Saturday when ploughman's lunches, coffee and afternoon teas will be served in the Parish Centre, Gosditch Street.
