A £200 reward is up for grabs for anyone who 'shops' vandals who endangered children's health by smearing dog mess all over a slide at a Moreton-in-Marsh play area.

Moreton Town Council, which owns the Queen Victoria Gardens children's play area, is offering the reward for information leading to convictions of people committing vandalism in Moreton.

The contents of two nearby dog bins were daubed over the slide during the latest incident.

Just before that two drug addicts' syringes were found in the area at the Batsford Road/High Street corner.

Vandals kicked in the door to the park's council-owned gents toilet late on Thursday, June 19 - only about five weeks after it was installed - and then blocked urinals with bags and paper.

Council parks committee chairman, Cllr Ben Jeffrey, said vandalism usually increased during warm summers and dog mess was previously daubed over the play equipment last summer.

He said : "Those who are doing this are empty headed. "It's a hygiene risk to children. "The reward is always there for people causing damage, providing we get a prosecution."

Moreton police's Sergeant Mike Bundy said: "It beggars belief that someone would do such a thing.

"Not only is it disgusting but it's potentially dangerous to children using the play equipment."

Last year, the £200 reward prompted someone to tell police who vandalised the area's climbing frame, resulting in three 16-17-year-old men being officially cautioned.

Anyone with information should telephone the police on 0845 090 1234 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
