ABBEY Lake Angling Club members contested the Southern Supercup 2003 semi-final on the Medley and Clifton sections on a very hot day when the Thames was clear.
While many found the fish hard to catch in some sections, this was not the case for Abbey's Mick Telling, drawing (E6) at Clifton.
For he won his section with an outstanding weight of 19lb 3oz and eight drams that included four bream and perch.
At the end, the Abbey team did well to finish fifth with 48 points.
The top six teams go through to the final which will be held at the JCB lakes, Uttoxeter, on Sunday, July 20.
Results: Medley: (A) M Greaves 5lb 13oz, (B) A Hicks 7lb 6oz,(C) C Telling 8lb 15oz.
Clifton: (D) R Bryant 1lb 3oz, (E) M Telling 19lb 3.5oz (SW), (F) A Barlett 15oz.
During the past seven years of this contest, the Abbey Lake AC have reached the final twice and the semi-finals on four other occasions.
