A CROWD of over 5,000 attended the two-day Calcot Manor Hotel Country Fair at the Beaufort Polo Club on Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22, at which over £40,000 was raised for the Countryside Foundation for Education.
The feature event on the first day was the final of the All England Club Championships for Argentine Club Cup (28 goal).
The tournament, which is sponsored by Mercedes-AMG, provides the highest standard of tournament polo outside of Argentina.
An exhilarating final saw Hildon Sport, including England international players Luke Tomlinson and Henry Brett, narrowly beat Larchmont Capital 7- 7.5.
A packed crowd on the Sunday were treated to another exciting polo match as an AMG team that included HRH The Prince of Wales, Prince William, Prince Harry and Luke Tomlinson overcame a Beaufort team 5-3 to lift the Calcot Manor Hotel Cup.
Other popular shows at the fair included Jemima Parry-Jones' falconry display and Katy Cropper's hilarious sheep dog (duck dog) display, as well as several spectator participation events such as laser clay shooting, lurcher and terrier racing.
Over 70 tradestands and the country market provided excellent shopping and proved popular for rural crafts, while the Morris Dancers and jazz band added to the carnival atmosphere.
A cheque for £40,000 raised by the events was presented to Lord James Percy Chairman of the Countryside Foundation for Education.
Simon Tomlinson, of the Beaufort Polo Club, thanked all the sponsors whose generous support made the weekend such a huge success.
