IMAGES of Dance, the vivacious young company, directed by Margaret Barbieri, former principal dancer of the Royal Ballet, makes its first visit to the Bacon Theatre, Cheltenham for one night only on Wednesday, June 15 at 7.30pm.
Twenty-two young dancers provide a feast of classical ballet for all the family. The entertaining and colourful programme ranges from the grand classical panache of Marius Petipa's Kingdom of the Shades to a revival of Matthew Bourne's wittily inventive Boutique, set in a 1960s Carnaby Street fashion store, and a new ballet Viatore, commissioned from rising international choreographer Cathy Marston.
This year Images of Dance pays a special tribute to the recently deceased and greatly missed Dame Alicia Markova in a short solo from Anna Pavlova's The Dragonfly.
Tickets from the box office on 01242 258002.
