LECHLADE'S decisive victory over bottom-placed Collingbourne on Saturday has taken them to the top of the Division One table in this Wiltshire Cricket League encounter
The Collingbourne openers put on 25, aided by some good fortune, before Wayne Bambrick removed Chandler and then danger-man Khan in quick succession.
Kly and Nichols then put on 49 before Nicholls fell. From then on, the Lechlade bowlers, despite some indifferent fielding, prevented the home side from accelerating in the second half of the innings.
A welcome return to form for Joey Peerwala (2-16) saw the Collingbourne innings closing on 176-6 with opener Kly battling through the whole innings for an unbeaten 57.
After a splendid tea, Lechlade went out to bat knowing that captain Paul Rowley wanted a good performance to secure as many bonus points as possible.
Matt Coe, with four fours in his 16, set the scene as Roger Pettifer 62no and Paul Godding 73no devoured a wayward bowling attack.
Godding was particularly savage in order to get to a wedding reception! In the end, Lechlade cantered to the winning post in under 27 overs to claim a comprehensive victory and 23 points.
Lechlade will need to be doubly focused this weekend as they visit an in-form Wootton Bassett on Saturday and then, on Sunday, entertain Avebury in the Wiltshire final of the National Village Knockout, 2.30pm start.
