FOLLOWING a change of job that involves more Saturday working, Mark Webb has relinquished the post of Fairford Town manager at Cinder Lane, handing over the reins to his assistant, Kevin Maloney.
Webb, though, will remain with the club in a coaching and scouting role. Maloney, meanwhile, is actively seeking a new number two and an announcement in this respect will follow shortly.
Maloney said, "I am looking forward to the challenge of the season ahead.
"And I will be looking for continuity of the excellent team spirit and dressing-room atmosphere that has been the hallmark of Fairford Town since Mark and I became involved six seasons ago."
Fairford Town FC president Mike Tanner expressed his thoughts on the news, "We are all obviously disappointed that the Webb-Maloney combination could not continue, but I have every confidence in Kevin's ability and am more than pleased that Mark will still be with the club.
"I would also like to place on record my thanks to Mark for the commitment and effort he has put in over the past seasons.
"It was the same performance that he gave in the seven seasons at Cinder Lane as a player - nothing less than 100 percent.
"On a limited budget, he has performed miracles: stabilising our league position, winning the Gloucestershire Senior Trophy, the Floodlit Cup and also finishing as beaten finalists in the same competition.
"Few clubs could have had a more loyal and hard-working manager."
Tanner concluded, "Mark would be the first to say it was a team effort and never understate Kevin's contribution - hence his delight that Kevin is to be manager."
All players, old and new, are welcome at pre-season, which starts on Thursday, July 7, at 7pm and will continue Mondays and Thursdays thereafter.
