A RETIREMENT village near Cirencester has picked up a prestigious award.

Aura Care Living’s Stratton Court won Best Architecture or Design in the Retirement Living Awards in October.

The accolade takes account of interior or exterior building design, including plans and visuals, VR production and construction, as well as decor, furnishings and assistive design.

The Retirement Living Awards aim to seek out the best retirement housing projects and integrated retirement communities and services in the UK.

Judges admired Stratton Court’s design, which reflects a balance between traditional Cotswold charm and contemporary living.

Buildings at the retirement village feature stone facades that resonate with the vernacular of the area while incorporating modern elements like large windows.

Opened in 2018, Stratton Court is designed for over-65s and boasts 31 one and two-bedroom apartments.

In addition, it features amenities like the Kensington Restaurant, a library, a hair salon and a gym.

The retirement village also sits next to Aura Care Living’s Stratton Court care home.

This care facility was recently named best luxury care home in the South West by Global Health & Pharma Magazine.

Linda Lloyd, chief executive of Aura Care Living, is proud of Stratton Court’s design.

“We have plans to improve the village further,” she noted.

“The introduction of multipurpose rooms that can be used for various activities, such as art classes, book clubs and hobby groups, can foster a sense of community.

“Outdoor spaces can be upgraded with communal gardens, walking trails and seating areas to encourage residents to spend time outdoors and interact with one another.

“Watch this space.”
