A CHRISTMAS song focused on the Cotswolds has enjoyed chart success since being released last week.
Christmas In The Cotswolds, by Next To No Time, went to number two in Apple Music’s Music Videos chart following its global release on Thursday, November 14.
According to a spokesperson for Next to No Time - which consists of Steve Banyard (producer/keyboards) and David J King (keyboards/vocal arrangements) plus various guest singers - the song fuses synth-based rhythms with guitars, mandolin and strings for a new, upbeat Christmas sound.
It celebrates the unique beauty of the Cotswolds, with Cirencester, Tetbury, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold all mentioned in the track.
According to a press release for the tune, no song with ‘Cotswold’ or ‘Cotswolds’ in the title has ever registered anywhere in the UK pop charts since they were first compiled in November 1952.
Commenting on the track, writer and producer Mr Banyard said: “I just felt it was time for a new, fun and joyous Christmas song.
“The Cotswolds is the perfect setting for Christmas wherever you live in the world, and I wanted to capture that feeling and celebrate both the season and the region.
“Therefore, many of everyone’s favourite places in the Cotswolds are featured in the video.”
As to whether the song could become a Christmas number one, Mr Banyard said: “Getting the song there is a huge ask, and the chances are admittedly tiny, but who knows?
“If everyone gets behind us and supports us, we can show the rest of the country and the rest of the world what a truly glorious place the Cotswolds is.”
Christmas In The Cotswolds from Red White Blue Music is available now from all major online stores.
