GLOUCESTERSHIRE police has said that a 26-year-old man arrested in connection with a fire at an industrial estate in Tetbury on Friday has been released without charge and with no further action planned.

Firefighters dealt with a blaze at a building in Tetbury Industrial Estate from around 12.40pm on Friday, November 15.

Gloucestershire Constabulary said on Friday that the fire took place at a suspected cannabis farm inside the premises and that a 26-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of drugs manufacture/the production of a class B drug, namely cannabis.

However, in an update, a spokesperson for the force said that the man has been released and will face no further action due to insufficient evidence.

The spokesperson added that forensic investigators have been unable to access the building because of the fire damage.

“An investigation has been ongoing, however, due to the damage caused to the building by the fire, it is structurally not safe and therefore forensic investigators have not been able to gain access,” the spokesperson said.

“A 26-year-old man who had been arrested in connection with the incident has since been released and will face no further police action due to insufficient evidence.”

Plumes of smoke were seen drifting off the site during the incident and led to a closure along Cirencester Road, which has since reopened.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said nine fire engines were sent to the scene from Nailsworth, Stroud, Cirencester, Wotton-under-Edge, Cheltenham West, Gloucester South and Fairford.

An additional two fire engines were sent from Dorset and Wiltshire.

Crews used an aerial ladder platform, two jets and four breathing apparatus to fight the fire.
