A BUSINESS based in the Cotswold Water Park near Cirencester has revealed an impressive achievement.

Independent craft beer business Cotswold Lakes Brew Co. has announced that it has achieved B Corp certification.

Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by nonprofit network B Lab to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

More than 8,700 B Corps can be found across the globe, with more than 2,000 located in the UK.

Incorporated in 2021, CLB has a core range of six beers and was a winner in the Great Taste awards for 2024.

Each of its beers has a proportion of the malted barley replaced with surplus bread sourced from local businesses.

The standards for B Corp certification covered all aspects of the business, ranging from governance and employee benefits to environmental impact and community engagement.

A spokesperson for CLB - whose tap room is situated at Field Farm in Somerford Keynes - said that gaining the B Corp mark ‘is a testament to CLB’s efforts to positively impact the local community, the wider environment, its customers and employees’.

Danni Brotherston, sustainability lead at the company, said: “We are incredibly proud to be recognised as a B Corp.

“This certification underscores the commitment to our values of collaboration, responsibility, quality and fun - it’s what we like to call ‘beer with purpose’.

“We are excited to continue the great work we’ve done already and have big plans for the future.”

CLB has recently accepted an invitation to become one of destination management organisation Cotswold Tourism’s sustainability champions.

A CLB spokesperson said the company ‘is looking forward to sharing this journey with other local attractions and celebrating business as a force for good’.
