Show homes for Avon Rise, located in Filands Road, Malmesbury, are due to open on Saturday, November 30.

Homebuilder Bloor Homes has provided this image of another development, with a spokesperson saying it ‘shows the quality and style visitors to Avon Rise can expect’.

The housebuilder is encouraging first-time buyers to explore their options for buying a new home in Malmesbury before a predicted rise in stamp duty tax next spring.

The threshold was raised by the previous government to allow first-time buyers to pay no stamp duty on purchases of up to £425,000 until March 2025.

With the new Labour government indicating that it will not be extending the threshold beyond this date, anyone buying a home for the first time from April 2025 will pay stamp duty tax on properties over the lower threshold of £300,000.

With incentives like a £5,000 options voucher on selected off-plan plots at its Avon Rise development, Bloor Homes is keen to help first-time buyers take advantage of the stamp duty threshold.

The housebuilder is constructing a range of two, three and four-bedroom energy-efficient homes in Malmesbury.

Kim Benson, sales director for Bloor Homes’ south west region, said: “We are aware of the impending stamp duty increase and the impact this will have on first-time buyers.

“Therefore, we urge any first-time buyers who are interested in moving to Avon Rise to check with their independent financial adviser on just how much more they could be expected to pay after the threshold is removed and visit us to find out about how we could help them move in time.”
