GLOUCESTERSHIRE police has issued a statement following reports of an ‘armed robbery’ in Tetbury on Saturday.
A member of the public contacted the Standard to report that there were rumours of an ‘armed robbery’ taking place in Long Street, Tetbury, on Saturday morning.
The caller said this was causing concern among shopkeepers in the community.
Now Gloucestershire Constabulary has provided the Standard with clarification - with a spokesperson stating that ‘no offence was found to have been committed’.
“Police were called to a report of a burglary in progress at a property in Long Street, Tetbury, at around 11am on Saturday, November 9,” the spokesperson said.
“A member of staff was concerned with the behaviour of three men in a shop.”
“Officers located the men and searched them, but no offence was found to have been committed.
“They were allowed to leave with no further action taken against them.”
