A BURST water main has flooded a key road in Malmesbury.

Photos showed water across both sides of Gloucester Road, Malmesbury, adjacent to the Co-op supermarket.

An eyewitness on social media said at around 11.30am on Thursday, October 31: "Looks like another burst water main in Malmesbury."

They added at 12.30pm that the water appeared to be going down.

Other eyewitnesses said that the water was only on one side of the road earlier in the day.

A leak was reported in the area of the location of the photos on the Wessex Water website.

"We’re investigating a leak and aim to resolve this as quickly as possible," the site for the water supply and sewerage utility firm said.

Meanwhile, a Wessex Water spokesperson said on Thursday: "We are aware of the burst water main, and our leakage team is currently assessing the best method of repair.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and aim to repair the main as soon as possible."

According to the Wessex Water website, the leak appeared to have been resolved on Friday, November 1.
