THE MP for Cirencester has revealed that her office has handled more than 8,000 emails since she was elected in July.

After her first 100 days in office, Liberal Democrat MP for the South Cotswolds Roz Savage has reflected on her journey since the election on July 4.

The MP has also reaffirmed a commitment to delivering on behalf of her constituents.

A release sent on behalf of Dr Savage said that in her first 100 days as MP, her and her team ‘have been working tirelessly to tackle the issues facing local people’.

The release said they have been looking for support for people affected by Dyson’s decision to cut a third of its UK workforce, pushing for stricter regulations on water companies discharging sewage into Cotswold rivers and backing WASPI women fighting for fair compensation.

It added that Dr Savage has announced her Private Members’ Bill, the Climate and Nature Bill, to ensure the government fulfils its pledges to limit climate change and restore biodiversity.

“In Parliament earlier this month, Roz gave her maiden speech during a debate on food and farming, in which she highlighted the frustrations of farmers seeking clarity from the government on its long-term agricultural strategy,” the release said.

“She also shared inspiring stories from some of the 750 farms across the region that are regenerating soils and enhancing wildlife.

“But Roz says the proudest achievement of her first 100 days has been getting out and about at every opportunity, meeting and listening to people from every part of her constituency - in businesses, shops, community groups, schools, churches, social clubs and more.

“The MP’s office has handled over 8,000 emails since the election, and she has engaged with residents on issues ranging from flooding and climate to homelessness and social care.”

“I’ve had an incredibly rewarding first 100 days as the South Cotswolds MP, and my team and I are proud of what we’ve been able to achieve so far,” Dr Savage said.

“From taking action on GP surgeries to supporting communities faced with inappropriate planning proposals for oversized solar farms like Lime Down or inappropriate development like gravel extraction in Ashton Keynes, we’ve been working hard to support people in every corner of our amazing constituency, and we’re still just getting started.”

“I’m looking forward to getting real and lasting positive change for our area.

“Tackling flooding and water pollution and protecting biodiversity here and further afield are among my top priorities.

“I’m honoured to be doing my bit to build a better, brighter future for the people and communities of the South Cotswolds - championing key local issues all year round, not just at election time.”
