PLANS have been put forward to build almost 60 homes on a paddock in the Malmesbury area.

Applicant Hollins Strategic Land has submitted an outline application as part of plans to build 55 houses on a 7.6 acre paddock located off Sherston Road.

The proposed scheme also includes plans to create a public open space area, to install four separate seating areas and a new access road.

According to the application, vehicle speeds within the estate would be limited to 20mph.

Meanwhile, other proposals include installing an attenuation pond plus wildflower meadow planting.

A planning document reads: “The site is reasonably level greenfield land that has been used for agricultural purposes.

“The site is deliverable. The site would be sold to a housebuilder and it is anticipated that the development could be built out in circa two years from approval of the last reserved matter and so the proposals would provide for two years of economic benefits for the construction industry.

“The permanent economic benefits would accrue to the local shops and businesses in Malmesbury and the surrounding area.

"Parking will primarily be provided on driveways or beside the house, depending on the size and layout of the plot. Extra parking spaces (one per five dwellings) for visitors will be designated either on the public road or in other areas of the site.”

The applicant further states that if approved the development would generate additional funding to deliver improved healthcare in the region.

The document continues: “This application is submitted in partnership with the landowners, the Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, and the beneficiaries, the Great Western Hospitals NHS foundation Trust.

“Provided planning permission is obtained, the applicant and NHS Trusts will work together to sell the site to a housebuilder.

"The trusts intend that money generated by this sale will be used to deliver improved healthcare in the region.

“It is acknowledged that the level of weight cannot be determined at the current time because it is not yet known how much of the money generated by the sale will be used directly on healthcare improvement or how it will be spent.”
