A GIANT touring art installation has paid a visit to a Cirencester garden centre to promote a horticultural show.

The Giant Red Apple is a large-scale apple decorated with seasonal produce by Worcestershire artist Anna Best.

It advertises the Malvern Autumn Show, which has partnered with Dobbies Cirencester to launch the 2024 Giant Red Apple Tour.

The show is touring the apple to celebrate the CANNA UK National Giant Vegetables Championship, which is hosted at the show.

The apple measures just over 8ft in height and weighs 75 kilograms.

Commenting on the installation, Sam Field, general manager at Dobbies Cirencester, said: “We are proud to support Malvern Autumn Show.

“The Giant Red Apple is a fantastic sight greeting everyone when they arrive at our store, and we hope it gives people a little seasonal inspiration as we begin to prepare for the coming season.”

Malvern Autumn Show is being held at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern, Worcestershire, in association with Westons Cider from September 27 to 29.

It will feature gardening experts, celebrity chefs, immersive experiences and interactive demonstrations.

Names set to appear at the show include Gardeners’ World presenters Adam Frost and Arit Anderson, former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Kevin Clifton and The Great British Bake Off’s Briony May Williams, Lizzie Acker and Giuseppe Dell'Anno.

Next on the apple’s tour itinerary is Oakchurch Farm Shop in Hereford, where it will be located from August 19 to September 4.

The final stop of the tour will be Webbs, Wychbold near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, where it will be situated from September 4 to September 25.
