A NEW accreditation scheme helping shoppers locate Wiltshire food and drink is set to launch this September.

Similar to the red tractor sticker you can find on UK-farmed goods, the Wiltshire Marque scheme will be used by makers and producers to show that their goods are verified as Wiltshire-made.

The scheme aims to boost the region's flourishing food and drink sector and give businesses greater exposure.

Not only can the mark be used on packaging and marketing in shops, but farm shops, restaurants, pubs and hotels which feature Wiltshire-made produce will also be able to display the Wiltshire Marque.

Participants of the scheme will be showcased on a searchable, online directory that members of the public and businesses can access for free, which will also include news and updates from the initiative’s members, interviews with local businesses, and foodie event listings.

"The Wiltshire Marque is more than just an accreditation; it's a commitment to quality, sustainability, and community," said Cllr Richard Clewer, leader of Wiltshire Council and cabinet member for economic development.

"We are excited to see how the Wiltshire Marque will not only support the county’s food and drink sector but also offer those businesses a platform on which to shine, on both a regional and national stage."

Louisa Parry, co-founder of Stable & Wick Bakery and Farm Shop near Salisbury, added: “We’re eager to see what opportunities the Wiltshire Marque will bring to the county’s producers.

“Having our own accreditation scheme will help elevate the products we stock and show that they are amongst the best in the region.”

The Wiltshire Marque is being funded by Wiltshire Council’s 'Wiltshire Towns Programme', which is aimed at supporting activity on the high street.

Wiltshire Council invested £4 million into the scheme between 2021 to 2025 to help grow businesses, support employment and transform Wiltshire's high streets to meet the needs of communities.

The food and drink accreditation scheme will officially launch in late September 2024, and organisers are now calling on all companies supplying Wiltshire-made/grown food and drink to register their interest in the scheme by August 15 by visiting wiltshiremarque.co.uk.

Wiltshire Marque membership will be fully funded for the first 12 months, and as well as displaying their accreditation, members can also benefit from networking and collaboration opportunities with other Wiltshire businesses.
