AN opening date has been revealed for a new trendy hotel in the Cirencester area.
Hotel and pub company The Pig has announced its new hotel in the village of Barnsley is due to officially open on Monday, September 2.
Owners say they have sensitively transformed the 17th century Grade II gem the Barnsley House Hotel - which features gardens designed by former Royal gardener the late Rosemary Verey.
The new site - now known as THE PIG-in the Cotswolds - also features a spa with treatment rooms, a sauna and an outdoor terrace.
It comes as The Pig also opened a new pub in Barnsley known as The Village Pub last month.
Additionally, at the new hotel site there are Simon Verity sculptures, a listed Gothic summerhouse, listed archways, potager gardens and a lush Laburnum walkway.
The hotel also features a restaurant - known as its kitchen garden - where food is sourced within a 25 mile radius.
The team says it has taken inspiration from the surroundings and history of the land to grow delicious homegrown produce that make up dishes.
The first Pig site was opened in 2011 and currently has eight different places across the UK.
A spokesperson from the Pig added: “This genuinely unspoilt, elegant building has been sensitively restored to keep the character and original features of this beautiful house while still being classically PIG; rooms that feel lived-in with rich fabrics, reclaimed pieces and cosy corners you can really relax in.
“Plus, there are very large characterful bedrooms with spacious showers and big bathtubs, either in the room or in a separate, large bathroom.
“Each bedroom has all the comfy, familiar furnishings that are classically PIG, with many rooms overlooking the original arts and crafts style gardens.”
Bookings are due to go live next week with prices between £250 to £775 per night.
Guests at the former Barnsley House Hotel have previously included Hugh Grant, Kate Moss, Gwynneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, Anne Robinson and cookery guru Delia Smith.
