TWO FOOTBALL coaches who made their club a 'safe and happy place' have called it a day after a decade.
Chris and Gaz from Malmesbury Youth Football Club - who have coached in over 200 matches and more than 360 training sessions - have now left the club.
But this wasn't before an 'end of an era weekend' was held to thank both of them for their dedicated throughout their time at the club.
A club spokesperson said: "After ten magnificent years; over 200 matches, more than 360 training sessions and countless hours handling administration, Chris and Gaz have signed off as MYFC coaches.
"We know you'll join us in thanking them for everything they've done during their time with us
"Nine of their 16 boys played in their very first match back in 2014 and were with them for their 'End of an Era weekend, which everyone's still recovering from!
"Most of the other players have four years or more service.
"Yes, Chris and Gaz have been with these lads a long time!
"The End of an Era weekend consisted of two days in Burnham and Bridgwater, where the boys enjoyed an escape room followed by a three course dinner - for players and their families.
"They even watched England scrape through on Saturday together, before presenting players with trophies and picture mementoes of their time as a team.
"Sunday was a late breakfast, followed by the Bridgwater six-a-side tournament... which they came second in!
"Chris and Gaz were presented with some excellent gifts from the players, including a very special signed and framed shirt each.
"We'd like to extend our enormous thanks to Chris and Gaz.
"We know it doesn't feel like long ago that you were planning your first training session!
"Thank you for the time, effort and dedication you've committed to MYFC, and for creating a safe and happy place for young people to enjoy playing football.
"You've been incredible coaches... thank you, gents."
