Thames Water has issued an apology to Wiltshire residents after hundreds have been left without water for almost 24 hours.
The issue, which has been caused by a burst pipe, is affecting the majority of Royal Wootton Bassett and surrounding villages such as Bradenstoke and Lyneham.
Glyn Thomas, who lives in Bradenstoke, said he has had no water since 10.30am on Tuesday, July 9 and the issue is ongoing as of 8.45am on Wednesday.
"We were told there's a burst main in a field in Wootton Bassett but almost everyone has had no water for almost 24 hours now," he said.
"Thames Water told us it would be fixed by this morning but I have got up this morning and there's still no water.
"It's getting a bit ridiculous now, some of the schoolchildren even had to be sent home yesterday."
He added: "Thames Water was supposed to make provisions but they haven't really delivered. A few vulnerable people have been given water but most of us have had nothing.
"Since yesterday evening everyone in the village has been becoming more concerned. It's not a small number of people affected, it's loads."
Despite Mr Thomas' concerns, others in the affected areas say they have been given emergency bottled water.
"It must be serious as they dumped two packs of water outside my gate. It was bloomin' heavy to carry in," one resident from Royal Wootton Bassett said.
In a statement seen by the Swindon Advertiser on Wednesday, July 10, Thames Water has confirmed that the issue is due to a burst pipe in Church Street, Royal Wootton Bassett, and is affecting those living in the SN4 and SN15 area.
"We have now isolated a burst pipe in Church Street, SN4. We have re-routed the network to bring the majority of customers back into supply," said a spokesperson for Thames Water.
"We’re really sorry to those customers who still have low pressure or no water.
"The network is still recovering and taking longer than expected.
"We know how inconvenient it is if you lose your water supply, so we’ll work hard to get things back to normal as soon as we can."
