A PICNIC for over 20 families took place in Cirencester.
National charity, Family Action, launches the ‘Make Happy Memories’ campaign to help families create cherished memories with events and activities throughout the months of May and June.
One such event was a family picnic for over 23 families in Cirencester, making use of the facilities at Cirencester Opportunity Group.
Family Action says it is committed to supporting individuals and families through times of change, challenge, and crisis.
The charity’s ‘Make Happy Memories’ campaign incorporates a fund to enable Family Action services to organise special days out and events for the families they work with, to come together, laugh, and create lasting happy memories.
In Cirencester, Family Action operates the Cotswold Children and Family Centre, based in Lewis Lane.
The families had a fantastic time at the picnic, engaging in activities such as creating a family handprint keep sakes, photo booth pictures, creating cards for their families and lot of other craft activities, along with a picnic lunch.
Most of all they enjoyed each other's company and made many unforgettable memories that they may otherwise not have been able to make.
Family action team manager for Stroud and The Cotswolds Family Support Team, Kelly Anderson, said: “We were overjoyed to see families coming together to make lasting memories within the community, our mission was to create a vibrant and inclusive picnic experience that celebrates the simple joys of childhood, through fun-filled activities, delicious food, and heartfelt connections’, seeing all of the smiling faces, I feel we achieved this.
"We are new to the area, so couldn't anticipate how successful the event was likely to be.
“Research from the Happiness Research Institute highlights the importance of ‘depositing good memories in our memory bank so that, in the future, we are more likely to make withdrawals of happiness’.
"At our picnic there were lots of special moments and families were able to make memories that we hope will last a lifetime."
A parent at the event said: “It was a really lovely day, with lots of activities to choose from and it was a fun, free and safe place to play with my children.”
