POLICE have been out in a village near Malmesbury catching speeders. 

Officers from Malmesbury Police caught two drivers speeding in Lea on Tuesday, June 4.

They have been issued with notices of intended prosecution, police say. 

A police spokesperson said: “The roads we monitored were at 40mph and the fastest vehicle was captured at 48mph. 

“Depending on previous convictions and history, the two drivers will be offered a speed awareness course.

“Proceedings will now be undertaken to ensure the most appropriate outcome for the offenders takes place, which includes checking for MOT, insurance and point totters.

“Captured footage will be analysed for other offences like seat belts and mobile phone use.”
