THE devastated family of a 'loving husband' and 'proud' grandfather who died after being hit by a car have issued a heart-felt tribute.
Mickleton residents David Clark, aged 83, and his wife Daphne were on holiday in St Ives celebrating Daphne’s retirement and their recent 50th wedding anniversary when they were both struck by a car as they walked along Trelyon Avenue on Tuesday, April 30.
Mr Clark was taken to hospital where he later died a week later on Tuesday, May 7 and his wife remains in hospital with life-changing injuries.
His family have since issued the following tribute: “David Clark grew up and lived in Mickleton in the Cotswolds.
“A loving husband to Daphne, proud father to Kerry, Samantha and grandfather to Gee, Issy, Will, Luke and Bea. Also foster grandad to Skye and Evie and great grandfather to Freddie.
“David and Daphne were on holiday in St Ives celebrating Daphne’s retirement and their recent 50th wedding anniversary with their little dog Zara; a place they enjoyed visiting and spending time together.”
The family have asked for privacy at this difficult time.
The driver of the car, a 45-year-old man, was arrested at the time of the crash on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention and is currently on police bail.
