STUDENTS from Malmesbury School spent time soaking up Spanish culture and improving their language skills on a recent trip.
30 pupils from years 9, 10, 12 and 13 went on a seven day exchange which included two trips to visit Peñíscola and Castellón in the autonomous community of Valencia.
Although this is an established link between the two schools - Malmesbury School and Cabanes school - this was the first time that the sixth form have done the exchange with the school establishment called IES Vall d’Alba.
Students spent time in lessons with their exchange partners and spent their evenings and the weekend totally immersed with their Spanish families, soaking up the Spanish culture, way of life, food and heritage.
Many of the students have already planned trips back this summer to reunite with their Spanish partners.
When they came to stay here, the Spanish students visited Malmesbury and had trips to the Roman Baths with a unique seminar on Aquae Sulis and they visited The Bristol Suspension Bridge centre.
Three teachers accompanied the trip to Spain – Mrs Maria Hernandez, Mr Curtis Pressman, and Mrs Samantha Samuels.
Mrs Maria Hernandez, lead teacher of the trip and Head of MFL key stage 5, said: "It was a joy to hear our students conversing in Spanish and striving to throw themselves into the Spanish way of life.
"Our students embraced this amazing opportunity and we are immensely proud of them for being such brilliant ambassadors for Malmesbury School."
