THE new headteacher at a secondary school in Tetbury has announced a new campaign to encourage kindness in and out of the classroom.
Mr Will Ruscoe was appointed headteacher at Sir William Romney's School in September and has launched a new campaign which takes a proactive approach to bullying.
The school launched its Respect 24/7 campaign this week which aims to bring all members of the community together to pledge to always show respect to themselves, each other, the community and the environment.
Mr Ruscoe said that although incidents of bullying are rare, they are dealt with quickly by the pastoral team.
In addition, they have also appointed a team of Respect 24/7 student ambassadors to support students.
The headteacher said: "We are very proud of our culture and how well students work with each other and their teachers.
"Respect 24/7 brings all members of the community together to pledge that they will do their utmost to always show respect to themselves, each other, the community and the environment.
"We can always be looking to demonstrate kindness to each other and that we all stand up against bullying whenever and wherever we see it.
"The world will be an even better place if we are always showing kindness to each other, our environment and our community.
"We are very clear that we will not tolerate bullying in our school and the reasons why it is not acceptable.
"Students are clear where they can seek help.
"When incidents of bullying do occur we have an excellent pastoral team who can resolve incidents quickly and avoid it continuing.
"We are training a team of Respect 24/7 student ambassadors who will be an additional asset on supporting students and developing our Respect 24/7 strategies further."
Mr Ruscoe has also shared his vision for the school.
He said: "Our vision for the school is that it will be a beacon of excellence admired in Gloucestershire and beyond.
"We will achieve this through our purpose of 'Striving for Excellence Together'.
"Both our vision and purpose have been developed since I joined the school in September.
"Our values continue to be aspiration, collaboration, and resilience."
