A MAN has died following a serious crash on the M4.
Wiltshire Police said the man in his 50s was struck by passing vehicles on the motorway.
The force said the man entered the eastbound carriageway at the roundabout of junction 16 for Royal Wootton Bassett on foot yesterday, Saturday, December 9.
He was struck by passing vehicles and declared dead at the scene, his next of kin have been informed.
For more than 13 hours, the M4 was closed in both directions as police investigated the incident.
Both carriageways have reopened.
Wiltshire Police have now launched an appeal for information
A police spokesperson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to ascertain the facts surrounding this incident.
“Any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage is asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 237 of yesterday’s date.
“Alternatively, they can contact the team directly at SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk.”
