TEACHERS and pupils at an Outstanding rated secondary school have been celebrating after their school was named among the best in the region by The Sunday Times.
The Cotswold School in Bourton-on-the-Water was announced as one of the top three comprehensive schools in the South west by The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2024 on Friday, December 1.
Published annually, the guide identifies the highest-achieving schools in the UK ranked by their 2023 examination results.
The tables are based on the percentage of A level results at A*-B and GCSEs at 9-7.
This year The Cotswold School, which was rated Outstanding in its most recent inspection in 2015, ranked as the third best comprehensive school in the South west, and 247th nationally.
On A level results day, over a third of all grades awarded to Cotswold School's year 13 cohort were either A* or A.
In addition, 86 per cent of all A level grades awarded to pupils at the school were at A*-C, with 62 per cent at A*-B.
Meanwhile, 37 per cent of grades achieved at GCSE were at 9-7, with 82 per cent of students achieving the benchmark of five or more 9-4 grades, including mathematics and English.
Headteacher Will Morgan credits this success to the school's hardworking students, supportive parents and 'inspiring and committed staff'.
Mr Morgan said: “Featuring in the top three comprehensive schools in the South West recognises the hard work of our students, our inspiring and committed staff, and the ongoing support of our parents and carers.
"We remain focused on the quality of our curriculum and our teaching for all.
"Our staff care deeply for their subjects, their school and the individual students under their care.
"I am immensely proud of the support, both academic and pastoral, that we offer to our students, as well as our extra-curricular activities, helping to create opportunities to enable our students to thrive.
"I couldn’t be more proud of the students and the staff of The Cotswold School."
