AN IMPORTANT service in Cirencester is now future fit after struggling with poor broadband for years.
After struggling with poor broadband for years, and resorting to using a 4G mobile dongle, the Cirencester Foodbank is now future fit thanks to community ISP Lit Fibre.
The foodbank, which is part of the Trussell Trust network of support, covers the southern section of the Cotswold District, including Cirencester, and was formed in 2012 with the aim of ensuring no-one goes hungry.
As part of its commitment to invest in the local community, Lit Fibre has installed the ultrafast broadband connection completely free of charge, helping the Cirencester Foodbank, run more smoothly and support the community.
The 1Gb connection will help the foodbank turbo-charge their admin and communications more efficiently and save money, which can then be reinvested back into the community.
Head of Cirencester Foodbank, Anton Wynn said: “We are reliant on generous food donations from schools, churches, businesses and individuals but recently, we have also benefited from a range of support from our friends at Lit Fibre.
"Our team can now work more efficiently thanks to the generous free installation of their full-fibre broadband.
"Without the support of Lit Fibre and other local stakeholders, we couldn’t carry on the invaluable work of the foodbank, so thank you!”
Dan Budd, Lit Fibre’s community manager for Cirencester and surrounding areas, said: “We are so proud to be able to help the foodbank and support the great work that their team of volunteers are doing in the local community.
"Being able to help make their communications more efficient and save them money is a great start to this partnership.
"We’re excited to continue supporting the Cirencester community, bringing them the internet they deserve.”
Lit Fibre also supported the foodbank at this year's local Pheonix Festival, where the team collected 20 kilograms of donations throughout the day, and continues to help the foodbank where possible, including supporting its volunteer sessions.
Lit Fibre’s full-fibre broadband service is now available in Cirencester.
Residents can use Lit Fibre’s postcode checker www.litfibre.com/get-lit to see if their home is covered by the service and register for further information.
