MOTORISTS have been urged to drive carefully after flooding on the M4 caused travel chaos this morning.
At around 9.30am on Friday, November 10 National Highways announced that all three lanes of the M4 eastbound between junction 18 Bath and junction 17 in Chippenham were closed due to flooding.
Motorists were diverted via the A46 to Cold Ashton, and then along the A420 to Chippenham.
National Highways announced an update at around 10.30am which said that the M4 eastbound between junction 18 and junction 17 has now opened but lanes one and two remain closed for a separate incident so delays are expected.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "One lane eastbound from junction 18 for Bath has now reopened.
"Please be extra careful and make more time for your journeys today following the rainfall overnight as there remains a lot of standing water on the roads."
