DELAYS are expected on A419 this weekend due to road closures.

National Highways want to remind drivers that the A419 will partially shut at the Highworth junction near Swindon this weekend while structural repairs take place to the bridge, which will include the replacement of bridge parapets.

The northbound carriageway will close at 8pm on Friday, September 1 until around 6am on Monday, September 4.

During this time period all northbound traffic will be diverted via the A420 White Hart roundabout and rejoin the A419 at the Turnpike junction.

Two-way traffic signals will be put in place in Highworth Road to remind drivers about this diversion.

Drivers have been asked to plan in advance and allow a little extra time for their journeys ahead of this weekend’s closure.

National Highways’ service manager Andrew Gale said: “We appreciate roadworks can be frustrating but we’ve been communicating well in advance with local businesses and communities, we’re keeping the closures to an absolute minimum and we thank all drivers in advance for their co-operation and patience while we carry out these essential works.”
