HERE is a round-up of the biggest court cases this month from the Cirencester area.
A man was sentenced for manslaughter, two fraudsters admitted to conning elderly residents out of thousands of pounds and a drug dealer was jailed after a police raid discovered £80,000 worth of drugs in his property.
The drug dealer
A 30-year-old man from Cirencester was jailed after a police raid discovered £80,000 worth of drugs in his property.
The case was heard at Gloucester Crown Court on Friday, August 4.
Nathan Woodward, now of School Lane, Cirencester, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply and also to possessing £17,660 in cash on May 25, 2023 and to criminal property and possession of a weapon - a stun gun - on the same date.
The judge sentenced Woodward to four years in prison.
Officers from the Cotswold and Stroud Vanguard team issued a warrant to search a property in Ampney Crucis after information had been submitted from the public about suspected drug dealing at 8.50am on Thursday, May 25.

Jailed for manslaughter
A man has been jailed for manslaughter after he punched a fellow pub-goer unconscious outside a pub two years ago.
Liam McKane, aged 54, punched 51-year-old Colin Leslie once in the head outside Kingsbridge pub in Bourton-on-the-Water on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
The pair had been involved in a disagreement inside the pub before McKane approached Mr Leslie outside and punched him.
He subsequently fell backwards and hit his head on the floor.
Paramedics attended and treated Mr Leslie in a bid to save his life before he was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with suspected head injuries.

The young con artists
Gloucestershire Police has released mugshots of two 23-year-old fraudsters who received suspended sentences for conning elderly residents in the Cirencester area into handing over their bank cards.
Victims of this widescale fraud were aged between 78 and 96 and £5,610 in cash was obtained from five of them in just one week.
Prosecutor Ian Fenny told Gloucester Crown Court on Thursday, August 10 that a man claiming to be from their bank cold-called victims and told them that their bank cards needed updating.
"Several were told they would receive gift cards when their existing bank cards were collected by a courier and that a replacement updated card would be sent out that day.
“A supplementary phone call was made to tell the victims explaining that their new card would be delayed as it was not ready yet."

The fraudster
A 60-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to stealing just over £10,000 pounds.
Lilian Chambers, aged 60, of Thrupp Lane, Stroud, admitted two counts of fraud and two of stealing at a hearing on Monday, August 7.
During the hearing at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court, Chambers admitted committing fraud in Tetbury between July 1, 2013 and February 19, 2016.
She gave details of a personal bank account to a business pretending that the account was that of her employer, gaining £1,214 for herself.
She committed a similar offence between February 16, 2016 and November 30, 2017.

The teenage yob
An Anti-social Behaviour Injunction has been imposed on a 15-year-old from Cirencester.
The application for the injunction was made under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, August 8.
A judge granted the injunction for a duration of 12 months, with a number of provisions and prohibitions in place.
These prohibitions include:
- ban on threatening to use violence towards another person(s)
- ban on behaving in a way that causes alarm or harassment or distress to another person
- ban on swearing or shouting at people
- ban on climbing on buildings in the town centre or anywhere in Cirencester at any time
