STUDENTS at Farmor's School have been praised for their 'hard work, perseverance and ability to overcome obstacles' on GCSE results day.
After two years of revision and exam stress, staff at the secondary school in Fairford were delighted to greet students this morning with great news about their achievements.
The school's hall was filled with smiling pupils relieved that their hard work had paid off.
Meanwhile, many teachers were busy registering students from other local schools to join the sixth form.
One in four grades achieved by students in this Year 11 cohort achieved Grades 7 - 9.
Headteacher Matthew Evans said that it was great to see some notable successes by students who have worked through some real challenges this year to get the grades they needed to study A Levels at Farmor’s Sixth Form or progress to vocational qualifications.
Headteacher, Matthew Evans said: “I have spoken to so many delighted students this morning.
"Every one of them has a story to tell about the challenges they have overcome to get these results.
"With these excellent results behind them they can be confident that they can succeed in whatever they turn their hand to.”
Head of Year Sarah Dawson said: “I could not be happier for this year group.
"They have been an amazing group from day one. All their hard work, perseverance and ability to overcome obstacles has been inspiring.”
