Cirencester Kingshill School staff praise Year 11s on GCSE results day

It was an emotional time for many pupils at Cirencester Kingshill School this morning.

The secondary school does not have a sixth form so for many Year 11 students today will be their last day on the school premises after an eventful five years.

Headteacher Christine Oates has thanked the staff for helping encourage and support pupils through this stressful exam period, and for also helping raise pupil's expectations of what they could achieve.

This year 70 per cent of Year 11 pupils at the secondary school achieved a standard pass (grades 9-4) in GCSE English and 65 per cent achieved a standard pass (grades 9-4) in GCSE maths.

In addition, 74 per cent of Year 11 pupils achieved a standard pass (grades 9-4) in GCSE science. 

Commenting on the great set of results Mrs Oates said: "Congratulations to all our Year 11 pupils.

"They worked hard throughout Year 11 and the pupils were a credit to themselves, their parents and the school.

"We are pleased to see them able to progress onto the next stage of their educational journey.

"The staff worked persistently hard to raise pupil expectations, encouraging and supporting pupils throughout their GCSE courses. 

"The staff are pleased with the GCSE results and would like to wish the Year 11 pupils every success for their future."
